2nd Video: What Sources of tension, new or old, in the Middle East are revealed by the film?

Sources of tension in the Middle East comes from oil, dictators, and power. The United States wants to keep the oil flowing. We want things to benefit us. The United States doesn’t step on a dictators toes when they like them, but if they don’t then they step in. (Opinion) When they talk about oil, they talk about the US not wanting to get involved with Bahrain when they protested about economic reform. We have an important Military Base in Bahrain that goes through the ‘oil route.’ Also, Saudi Arabia is our strongest Allie in the Middle East, which is right next to Bahrain.
Dictators and Power is another strong issue. Aljizeera interviewed people who are now missing or have been beaten. People live in fear in the Middle East even though on Bahrain, we are the strongest force. People are upset and feel that America isn’t doing anything. My question is, how much can America do? Also does the Bahrain government brake the peoples rights because they know that America won’t do anything? Just because they know that we don’t want to not have our base there, there no longer?

  2. I have to agree with both of these issues. The US only seems to care about oil in the Middle East, unless they don't like the dictator, and even then, we might not get involved because of the oil they could be supplying us with. I wish, personally, that the US would get more involved with this issue in Bahrain since I don't like to see police attacking the people, considering that the police are made to defend the people from those who would threaten them.
